First Half
Netherlands started the game on the front foot, pushing forward with pace and intent. Despite their early pressure, Forest’s defence—anchored by a strong and determined Eimear—held firm. Eimear consistently denied Netherlands any clear goal-scoring chances, making crucial challenges and clearances.
The deadlock was finally broken after a short corner from Mia Faith found an aggressive Millie on the edge of the box. Millie calmly squared the ball across to an unmarked Angel, who slotted it neatly into the bottom left corner.
Forest responded immediately from the restart, showing resilience and determination. Eimear’s long clearance to Eva allowed Forest to mount a dangerous attack down the middle. However, Isabella and Laini combined brilliantly to press and deflect the ball over the byline, stopping the run in its tracks.
Second Half
Netherlands extended their lead when Poppy’s quick kick-in found Angel in space, and she made no mistake with the finish. Angel completed her hat-trick by reacting fastest to deflect a Forest clearance into the net, and she later added her fourth after a precise pass from Isabella split the defence.
Forest’s persistence paid off when Eimear once again turned defence into attack, sending a superb clearance to Devon on the left wing. Devon played a sharp one-two with Eva before driving at the Netherlands defence. Her pace and control gave her the edge, and she struck confidently to get Forest on the scoresheet.
Stand-Out Performances
• Faith – Excellent vision and composure, delivering precise passes and always looking up to find teammates.
• Isabella – Relentless pressing, effectively shepherding attackers away from goal.
• Laini – Tenacious tackling and accurate passing under pressure.
• Mia Faith – Impressive ball control and skill to hold up play and bring others into the game.
• Devon – Intelligent movement to find space, great communication, and blistering pace in attack.
Final Score: Netherlands 4 – 1 Forest
A strong attacking display from Netherlands, with Angel’s finishing proving decisive, but Forest showed determination throughout, with moments of real quality in their build-up play.
