LFF Girls Shine at Newark Town Tournament - 8th June 2025

What a sensational day it was for the LFF Girls at the Newark Town Tournament on June 8th, 2025. Entering two teams into the competition, both squads showcased brilliance, teamwork, and sheer determination from the first whistle to the last. Every player left it all on the pitch, and the performances across the board were nothing short of immense.

There were standout moments throughout the day, with Millie and Eva lighting up the scoresheet — each netting an incredible 12 goals, a phenomenal achievement in any tournament format. At the back, Eimear was a rock in defence, reading the game superbly and shutting down countless opposition attacks. Devon showed relentless energy and control, bossing the midfield and linking play seamlessly from back to front.

In goal, Myla and Etta rotated brilliantly between the sticks, showing great composure and bravery to keep multiple clean sheets and make some key saves under pressure.

The LFF Girls Greens stormed through the group stages and into the semi-finals, where they played out a tight 0–0 draw. The tension was high, but the girls kept their nerve in a dramatic penalty shootout — with some clinical spot-kicks to seal the win.

Into the final, the girls created enough chances to win two games, but the ball just wouldn’t hit the net. Another 0–0 scoreline took the match to penalties again. Undeterred, Eva Fletcher, Devon Searle, and Sophie Wakefield stepped up once more and dispatched their penalties with ice-cold precision — all three hitting the same corners as they did in the semi-final.

Every single one of them showed confidence, composure and character, and it was no surprise when the LFF Girls were crowned Tournament Winners!
