Newark Town Cavaliers secured another fantastic win this weekend with a strong all-round team performance.
The lads started the first half with real intent, putting the opposition under pressure straight away. Jenson and Oliver were rock solid at the back, making some brilliant tackles and clearances. Jaxx opened the scoring with a superb strike, setting the tone for the game. Henry was everywhere – breaking up play, driving forward, and testing the keeper with some powerful long-range shots. Rex impressed with his silky skills and close marking, while Dylan was full of energy, constantly wanting the ball and letting fly with several efforts on goal. Jake and Leo linked up beautifully, showing excellent teamwork, before Dylan added to the tally with a well-taken finish. Isaac, in goal, had little to do thanks to the defensive dominance, and the half ended with the Cavaliers in control.
The second half carried on in the same fashion with Cavaliers creating chance after chance. Rex played a brilliant pass to Leo from the side-line, which Leo tucked away confidently. Strong defending from Adam then launched another attack – Dylan’s shot was parried by the keeper, but Leo was quick to react and finished calmly. Despite some pressure from the opposition, who managed to pull one back, the Cavaliers responded well. Henry continued to shine with excellent ball skills and eventually got his reward with a fine goal of his own. The opposition found the net again later, but Jensen – who had stepped into goal – produced some top saves to keep control of the match.
It was another excellent display of teamwork, determination, and skill from every player.
⭐ Man of the Match: Isaac P ⭐
A Word from the Manager, Will:
“What a performance. Every single week we are getting better! Everybody put in a shift today, some of whom were out of position. Thank you to Isaac and Jensen for volunteering to go in goal – you saved us a big headache.
The defence was strong with Adam, Jensen, Jaxx, and Oliver working really hard. All the midfielders did the hard yards running backwards and forwards, and the strikers were in the right areas doing the hardest thing of all – putting the ball in the back of the net. I’m really glad Leo got on the scoresheet after his hard work last week, and I apologise for not mentioning it in the post-game chat.
Thank you all for being there today. Both the lads and us as coaches will keep improving. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!”
