Final Score: Newark Town Titans 0–3 Teversal

Newark Town Titans put in a spirited and encouraging performance against league favourites Teversal, in a game where the final scoreline did not truly reflect the balance of play.

Teversal began the match on the front foot, as expected, but after the opening five minutes the Titans grew confidently into the contest. Newark Town started to create some excellent opportunities and could easily have found themselves one or even two goals ahead. Aston went close with a couple of strong chances, while Ashton consistently delivered the ball into dangerous areas, linking up well with James Parmenter. Farley looked lively throughout, and at the back Raff and Steven marshalled the defence superbly during the first half.

Despite both sides having chances, neither could find a breakthrough before the interval, and the teams went in at half-time locked at 0–0. It was very much a game that looked like it could go either way.

Against the run of play, Teversal managed to break the deadlock with around ten minutes remaining, making it 1–0. Although the goal was a blow, the Titans never stopped working or believing. They continued to push forward and created chances of their own, with Billy going agonisingly close after nearly rounding the goalkeeper, only for the chance not to be converted.

One of the most pleasing aspects for the coaching staff was Newark Town’s approach play. The Titans enjoyed long spells of possession in Teversal’s half, a welcome change and a sign of progress, showing confidence to build and attack rather than sitting deep. Harry was called into action at times and made several good saves to keep the team in the game.

The second goal came from an unfortunate moment as Harry came out to sweep up. He managed to get a hand to the ball but couldn’t divert it far enough, allowing the Teversal striker to roll the ball into an empty net. A cruel moment in what had been an otherwise strong performance.

Deep into stoppage time, with the referee about to blow for full-time, Teversal added a third through an unlucky own goal, as the ball struck Raff and went in. It capped a scoreline that felt harsh on the Titans’ efforts.

Despite the 3–0 defeat, this was a performance full of positives for Newark Town Titans. The lads never had the rub of the green, but they stuck to their task, competed throughout. There is still plenty to work on and fine-tune, as those small details are often the difference between success and disappointment, but this was a very pleasing display.

A big thank you to Dean for refereeing and to all players and helpers involved in setting up the goals – your support is greatly appreciated.

Player of the Match:

  • Parents’ Choice: Rafferty Smith

Well done to all the Titans players for their commitment, attitude, and performance.
