Newark Town Titans lined up full of energy and determination against a well-organised Lowdham Colts Stripes side. From the very first whistle, the Titans looked sharp, pressing high and moving the ball well across the pitch. Their positive start was rewarded when Levi McCann found space running forward, quickly using a rebound from the goalkeeper incited by a brilliant attempt on goal from Freddie Gee. His quick reactions and composure gave Newark an early 1–0 lead.
However, the advantage didn’t last long. Lowdham struck back almost immediately with a neat finish to make it 1–1, and from there the game became a real battle. Newark lost a little of their early rhythm, while Lowdham grew into the game and managed to grab a second goal to move ahead 2–1. For a spell, the Titans had to dig deep, with some strong defending and hard work in midfield keeping them in the contest.
At half time, the coaches delivered calm but constructive advice. They reminded the players about holding their positions, using the width of the pitch, and staying switched on defensively. The team came back out with fresh determination, ready to turn the game around.
The second half saw a real lift in Newark’s performance. Davey Birtle, who had been tirelessly covering ground in midfield, won a free kick in a dangerous area. He stepped up with confidence and delivered brilliantly, driving the ball past the keeper to make it 2–2. It was a deserved goal for his effort and energy, and it reignited the Titans’ belief.
The winning moment came through Freddie Gee, who had been threatening all game with his speed and strength. Using his pace to burst past defenders, he showed great composure to finish clinically and give Newark a 3–2 lead. The Titans held firm until the final whistle, with every player contributing to a hard-fought and memorable victory.
