Newark Town started brightly, with Ezra creating early chances and twisting past the defence, only to be denied by the Sherwood goalkeeper. Hugo followed with an attempt of his own, narrowly missing the target.

Sherwood responded quickly, breaking free of Newark’s backline, but William was sharp and produced an excellent save. He went on to make several more crucial stops, keeping Newark level. In front of him, Harry and Luca defended with determination, putting in strong tackles to break up Sherwood’s attacks.

Josh showed his attacking intent, beating his marker before drawing pressure from another defender. Archie was lively, firing shots just wide, but his persistence paid off when he struck a powerful effort that escaped the keeper’s grasp and found the corner.

Sherwood increased the pressure before the break, forcing William into two outstanding saves. With Newark under the cosh, Archie even tracked all the way back into his own half to support Harry in defence, showing great commitment.

The second half opened with Sherwood taking the lead. Newark responded immediately, winning a corner that Archie delivered dangerously—Sherwood’s attempt to clear only ended up in their own net.

Hugo, Archie and Nile combined well in attack, but Sherwood held firm. Then, Luca threaded an excellent through ball to Ezra, who calmly finished past the keeper to restore Newark’s advantage.

Sherwood struck again to level the match, but Newark weren’t done. Ezra unleashed a powerful strike that was blocked at the last moment, before Hugo finally got his reward, finishing smartly after good work and an assist from Archie.

With the game in the balance, Max showed determination to chase back and defend, with Archie again supporting, helping Newark hold on for a hard-fought victory.
