Newark Town Titans U10s v Tibshelf Community U10s

Newark Town Titans U10s 1 – 2 Tibshelf Community U10s

Match Report

Newark Town Titans went into this fixture as underdogs, sitting fifth in the league. With nothing to lose, the lads treated it as a free hit, while Tibshelf needed a win to secure second place.

The first half was a tight, cagey affair, finishing 0-0. Chances were limited, but the Titans’ defence held strong. Harry in goal made a couple of excellent saves, while Harley, Steven, and James marshalled the back line with composure. Aston came close with a fine left-footed effort, saved by the Tibshelf keeper, and there were glimpses of attacking promise with good link-up play between Billy and Aston. By halftime, Newark Town were arguably the stronger side.

The second half saw the Titans switch to a more direct style, using long balls and capitalizing on second balls. Tibshelf drew first blood when a long-range free kick, blocked from Harry’s view, sneaked over the defence. 1-0 to the visitors.

But the Titans responded immediately. Just two minutes later, Harley’s quick thinking on a kick-in allowed him to dribble and deliver a precise cross to Aston, who finished smartly across the front post into the bottom-right corner. 1-1.

Newark Town continued to push, with Billy going through on goal and forcing a great save. Despite some near misses, the Titans were creating the more dangerous play. However, in the final five minutes, an uncharacteristic mistake allowed Tibshelf to snatch the winning goal.

Despite the loss, the Titans played with determination, commitment, and teamwork. They were arguably the better side on the day, winning the second balls and producing the clearest attacking play, even if Tibshelf had more shots.
