Match Report: Newark Town Titans
It was a big test for the newly formed Newark Town Titans as they took on two strong and well-established sides on Saturday. Despite only being together for a few training sessions and one friendly, the lads showed immense quality, character, and determination across both matches.
Fixtures:
Ruddington Village Red vs Newark Town Titans
Newark Town Titans vs Bingham Town Red
The Titans narrowly missed out in both games, but there were plenty of positives to take away. Across the two fixtures, the boys scored a total of five goals of their own and proved they can compete with experienced sides.
Manager Ben reflected on the day:
“If we break both matches down, we hit the post four times and could have easily won our first game by three or four goals. Luck wasn’t on our side unfortunately, but to compete like we did in our first match, we couldn’t have asked for more.”
On the second fixture, he added:
“We had the game won with three minutes left and I think we just lost a little bit of concentration. This is all down to experience, and as we get more game time throughout the season, we’ll see the games out a lot better. Overall, I’m absolutely over the moon with our performance today and the boys showed what a good side we are.”
Manager Tom echoed the praise:
“I can’t big the boys up any more if I tried! Every single one of them was brilliant, playing against two teams which have had 15–20 friendlies. I reckon we held our own in both games! And all the boys were well behaved when they weren’t on the pitch. Roll on next week.”
Parents were superb throughout the day, encouraging and supporting all the players, which helped create a brilliant team spirit.

The Titans can take huge confidence from these performances. To score five goals and push two seasoned teams so close at such an early stage in their journey shows the depth and potential within the squad. Both managers and parents agreed—this is just the beginning of something special.
Roll on next Saturday!
